(Ljubljana, Warsaw, Bratislava, Barcelona; October–December 2010) In order to provide background research for L’Internationale project and promote new and innovative forms of academic interchange, L’Internationale has organized a series of teacher-pupil seminars in close collaboration with MACBA’s Independent Studies Programme (PEI). The PEI aims to explore the field of artistic practices that link art to the human sciences and to critical-social intervention. The Programme seeks to enhance students’ ability to articulate a critical position with regard to art and culture. Over the course of this two-year collaboration, the PEI students, concentrating on specific case studies, will be researching the post-war circulation of ideas and artistic practices between (and within) geographical and political peripheries such as Eastern Europe, Latin America, Portugal and Spain. The structure of these seminars will be trans-generational in order to foster interchange and collaboration amongst project advisors, young researchers and local art historians—or “primary sources”—who were personally involved with the cultural sphere of each case study. Three PEI researchers will travel to each seminar city in order to work with these primary sources and present their research at a two-day seminar open to the public. These seminars aim to breakdown the teacher-pupil hierarchy and create a common platform for the exchange of ideas and research practices. |
